Tasting Note
Lucas Pfister is an agronomist with a vineyard in Ugarteche. He's been bottling his own wines since 2012 and makes some 10,000 bottles of 5 different wines. Ripe, with notes of very sweet white fruits, this chardonnay needs some grilled salmon.
40/40
This is the project that the young winemaker Lucas Pfister started in 2013 at his parents’ estate in Ugarteche, Mendoza. Its name comes from its location at kilometer 40 along Argentina’s old Route 40, which connects the north and south of the country. Pfister, a restless winemaker who studied in France and who has worked crush seasons in Portugal, Germany, and Australia, makes wine here with a clear fruity expression, no makeup, and in limited quantities. Pfister spends part of the year in northern Italy, where he consults for other wineries.
